A leading Independent IT Infrastructure and Services Consultancy is seeking an Oracle DBA for a major financial services customer. 9 month contract based in London to start ASAP. Inside IR35.

The role holder will be responsible for delivering Database project deliverables on time and within budget and to deliver an outstanding level of Database support across all systems, ensuring services meet or exceed their SLAs and efficiency targets. The systems are a critical part of the national infrastructure and are built to support high availability and high volumes, a mixed technology environment exists formed of Oracle technologies.

Preferred Experience;
Expert knowledge of Oracle replication (Golden Gate/DataGuard/RAC/EBS)
Intermediate knowledge of Oracle Exadata administration
Expert knowledge of Oracle internals
Expert knowledge of Oracle middleware (OEM/ODI/OWB/APEX)
Expert knowledge of Oracle physical database tuning
Expert knowledge of SQL tuning background
SQL database query writing
Intermediate knowledge of backup/recovery using RMAN
Intermediate PL/SQL coding background
Intermediate Understanding of logical and physical data models
Intermediate implementation knowledge of partitioning
Working knowledge of Oracle RAC, Cluster Resource software, and Oracle 12C features
Be able to work with team members located in multiple geographies
Knowledge of ITIL v3, ISO 20000 and ISO27000
Knowledge of AWS Cloud technology which runs some Oracle instances - bonus
Java Development Skills (Core Java, Spring boot, REST, Micro services) - bonus
Agile CI/CD toolsets like JIRA, Bamboo, Confluence, Jenkins, etc – bonus
Application servers (Weblogic, Tomcat etc) – bonus

Key Accountabilities
Demonstrates an understanding of Data Architecture’s role in supporting business processes.
Work closely with Architecture teams on design and estimates
Support the knowledge development of the Database team by sharing knowledge, learning from others and driving your own personal development. Actively support continuous improvement
Work in a variety of settings, individually or as part of small multi-discipline groups either within the team or in a project setting
Closely liaise with other technical areas such as Engineering, Architecture, Networks, Middleware, Database and Automation teams
Communicate effectively at all levels
Provide technical break\fix support including as part of a 24/5 out of hours on call rota
Provide high quality project delivery, including build, documentation and knowledge sharing
Mentors junior staff by providing training to develop technical skills and capabilities across the team
Delivery of assigned tasks within specified timelines, to an agreed quality standard
Ensure that the Team Leader / Manager is informed of workload status and details of key issues
Responsible to implement new business requirements and features in mission critical payment system using Oracle technologies.
To understand and adhere to the company IT methodology SDLC. This includes proactively raising timely exceptions/risks/issues, driving a culture of continuous improvement to raise the quality of deliverables. Strong Numerical and application log analytical skills
Demonstrates ability to participate in cross functional teams for estimating, application designs, and implementation strategies
Requires little supervision while identifying tasks associated with responsibilities
Provide suggestions, recommendations and input on direction for strategy and roadmap
Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly with peers and project colleagues
Work to ensure that the team can meet or exceed agreed Service Level Agreements
Strong Numerical and application log analytical skills
Problem solver and solution-seeking approach
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to multitask and prioritise
Ability to understand and communicate complex technical information
