We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world’s leading international bank.

Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.

 

We work in small, agile DevOps teams with colleagues around the world from our offices at the Bluefin Building in Southwark, our global headquarters in Canary Wharf, and multiple other locations around the UK including Sheffield, Leeds, Barnsley and Birmingham.

 

Following extensive investment across our Technology and Digital domains and with plans for continued expansion throughout 2020 and beyond, we are currently seeking a number of experienced Lead Cloud Engineers to join HSBC Technology.

 
GECS Tooling Replacement (GTR)

The Dataminder product which is the core of our current electronic surveillance * capability is being discontinued by Computer Associates by June 2019. There is a project underway concerned with the deployment and subsequent provisioning of the replacement – Digital Reasoning’s Conduct Surveillance which is a cloud native ML/AI platform. Initially the HSBC eComms Surveillance technical role will be to support the Digital Reasoning team by provide Infrastructure on-demand with auto-scaling orchestration to deliver a cost effective platform in a cloud environment. Over time this will evolve to shape the roadmap for our vendor migrating from IaaS to PaaS for many of the underlying components. The candidate will be involved with the project leveraging numerous cloud components from CI/CD, Storage, Messaging and Big Data among other suitable tooling. Within this project it will also be within the candidates remit to complete the continuous compute platform – RAGE that will enable teams to leverage IaaS and be compliant with HSBC Cloud Service Provider data centres.

 
What you will be doing;
  • Drive the technical architecture and shape up the evolving technical stack in partnership with other technical leads – setting directions for all aspects of technology practice for the Cloud environments
  • Provide technical leadership and assumes overall accountability for a successful implementation phase of the project. Overseeing back end and front end web developers, ensuring solutions are properly architected and specified, and partners with the project manager to ensure quality.
  • Participates in pre-project business development activities including writing proposals, developing price estimates, and delivering pitches for new work.
  • Implement best-of-breed technical solutions based on agreed technical design, adopting industry standard development patterns and methodologies (including continuous integration and automated unit and integration testing)
 

Understand, follow and demonstrate compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which you are involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy. Maintain HSBC Internal Control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators. Be aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with your role and act in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations.


 

Qualifications

 

What you will bring to the role; 

 

To be successful in this role you should have proven experience within the Technology sector with knowledge of the following skills:

 
  • Extensive experience in Software development – particularly hands-on experience in Java including proven experience of spring-boot and the wider framework(s) including but not limited to Messaging/Data/Core/batch/Security modules.
  • Good knowledge of web development (Java EE, HTML, JS & CSS) and frameworks integrating with Java/Rest services – React & Redux, Material-UI, Apache httpd, Mellon & SAML
  • Demonstrable experience in microservice based architecture.
  • Strong knowledge of Cloud Service Providers – preferably GCP and be able to manage the following components: Google Compute Engine, Google Cloud Storage, Google CloudSQL, Stackdriver, Google Load Balancing, Airflow, Elasticsearch, MySQL, JMeter
  • Strong knowledge of Rest-API, Messaging, Multi-Threading, XML, JSON and Similar Web technologies.
  • Hands on experience in Elastic, Hadoop, RDBMS.
  • Experience in Scripting Python, Bash.
  • Strong understanding of CD/CI – Jenkins, Ansible (with cloud APIs)
  • Proven experience as a strong, inspiring, technical leader/motivator, able to “take the team with you”

Accountabilities;
 
  • Collect electronically stored information from identified targets in a forensically sound manner, including but not limited to, audio, e-mails and other e-communications, shared drives and other business specific databases and records;

  • Process and produce collected data using software and hardware like NICE, EMC SourceOne Discovery Manager and Lotus Notes;

  • Stay current with state of the art developments in e-discovery industry including Office 365;

  • Understand implications of international collection and address international data issues with appropriate parties;

  • Work with appropriate parties to obtain approval to access and collect data;

  • Coordinate and track all electronic collection activities and maintain chain of custody documentation;

  • Execute and support custodian collections using various corporate collection tools;

  • Create data manifest, update collection tracking log, and ensure successful transfer of data for each shipment of collected data to processing vendors;

  • Work with eDiscovery paralegals and attorneys throughout collection efforts to e-discovery strategy, monitor timelines and budgets;

  • Prepare electronic data processing instructions in consultation with bank counsel and submit to discovery services vendors;

  • Quality check processed data to ensure all data was transferred to vendor accurately and in accordance with specifications.

 

Qualifications

 

What you will bring to the role; 

 

To be successful in this role you should have proven experience of the following;

 
  • Proven experience working in the electronic discovery field, preferably with prior financial services company litigation experience;

  • Strong business acumen, a proven track record as a team player that brings to the position exceptional organizational skills, excellent communication skills (both oral and written), and sound judgment;

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;

What you'll do

As a Cyber Threat Security Analyst you’ll you'll carry out and contribute to root cause analysis on security incidents and events, conduct training and scenario planning to prepare for and anticipate future events. Day-to-day, you'll perform threat hunting activities following defined processes and updating them as new capabilities and threats evolve.

You’ll also be:

  • Dealing with phishing emails, understanding the threat, making determinations and following remediation processes
  • Making recommendations for improvements on the automated triage of phishing emails and following processes to implement these system changes
  • Building strong working relationships with key security and Technology Platform teams and working with them to identify and remediate phishing emails and support ethical phishing campaigns
  • Proactively identifying and managing risk escalation to deliver key security related customer and compliance outcomes
  • Interrogating and interpreting large volumes of data and understanding the root cause of problems
  • Creating and maintaining documentation, and supporting controls and quality assurance in line with the bank’s standards

The skills you'll need

You’ll need excellent communication skills both written and verbally, and the ability to translate complex technical concepts clearly to your peers and management level colleagues. You should also have good collaboration and stakeholder management skills.

You’ll also need:

  • The ability to write technical issues in business term
  • Analytical skills with strong problem solving capabilities
  • Knowledge and experience of the legal and regulatory environment
  • A good understanding of Agile methodologies with experience of working in an Agile team
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, incident management and security controls experience

You’ll also:

  • Undertake holistic analysis of security data to identify control weaknesses and gaps and make recommendations for mitigation

  • Support and develop our custom hunting tools sets and configurations using working knowledge of scripting,  Python, Yara, Regex and Bash

  • Work in partnership with Security Delivery teams to develop tools and capabilities necessary to gather process and interpret large volumes of log and event data

  • Create and maintain documentation, and support controls and quality assurance in line with the bank’s standards
