About Model Risk and Validation (MRAV) team at Lloyds
MRAV is an independent team within Risk responsible for the review and approval of all the models used in the Group, as well as maintaining the wider Model Risk framework. MRAV has a very wide remit, from the regulatory models that support our capital permissions through to customer, impairment, market risk and forecasting models. The digitisation of the Bank, a key pillar of GSR3, is growing the prevalence of models in LBG, often for tasks not previously considered suitable for models, and MRAV are a part of this.
Job Title: Manager, Model Risk and Validation (MRAV)
Salary: £62, 298 - £69, 220 (London)
Location: 125 London Wall, London, EC2Y 5AS
Other location: Halifax
About the role
An exciting opportunity has become available to join the Model Risk and Validation team in the Risk division. The role will give you responsibility for independent model review and validation, with a specific focus on models employing Advanced Analytics techniques, such as Machine Learning. The scope of application of models is very wide, covering all areas of the bank, and as such the role also provides a superb opportunity to build a strong network of contacts.
The minimum requirements we’re looking for in this role:
•You’ll be highly numerate and hold at least a degree level qualification with quantitative content or equivalent skills derived from highly significant experience.
•Experience of model build and/or independent validation for Advanced Analytics/Machine Learning models.
•Ability to use experience and knowledge to make sound model judgements, taking in into account model performance, regulation and wider considerations such as complexity/benefit and short/long term trade-offs and resource prioritisation.
We are looking for someone with an ability to communicate and influence on complex issues, verbally and in writing, across all key partner groups. You’ll embed strong ethics and integrity into the heart of every decision, and build an environment that encourages high performance, openness, honesty and integrity.
At LBG, we’re invested in your continual development. That’s why we’ve fostered a collaborative learning environment that supports your career goals and encourages knowledge-sharing. Our inclusive culture offers you flexibility to try new things while helping you build the future you want!
The ideal experience, skills and background:
You’ll have significant experience in this area of modelling, with an ability to consider these models from the point of view of the reviewer rather than the model builder. Allied to this you'll need excellent communications skills, in order to convey your feedback both to the modelling teams and within the model review and approval process in MRAV. Knowledge of the wider risks associated with models of this type, such as explainability and the fairness of customer treatments, is also desirable.
In addition to a competitive salary we’ll also provide:
•A variable discretionary annual group performance bonus
•A 4% flex cash pot to spend on benefits (or take as cash)
•A generous employer pension contribution up to 13%
•30 days holiday entitlement plus bank holidays
•Private medical health cover, Share schemes and access to Staff discounts
