Infrastructure Engineer - Storage - Compute - Virtualisation

Are you an Infrastructure Engineer with a strong background in VMware?

Do you have experience with SAN Technologies?

They are looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to sit within the Storage & Compute Engineering team. The Role: As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer / Senior Storage & Compute Engineer you will test and deploy backup, archive, compute and storage infrastructure.

You will be responsible for delivering a stable and reliable service which satisfies performance, scalability and functional requirements of the bank, within a given budget.

You will actively work with architects, service owners, solution engineers and other teams to develop and implement solution relevant to the service delivery plan and COO strategy of the bank.

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer your role will incorporate the design, implementation, security and support of (amongst others) data centre networks, server capacity, data centres, workplace (desktop, laptop, mobile) etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver stable services which have 100% uptime and acceptable performance characteristics for the customer
  • Design storage solutions, both on an individual server or system level and as a transversal offering
  • Testing and recommendation of storage and backup tooling
  • Provide support to end-users where required
  • Engineer Storage solutions
  • Engineer Backup and Recovery solutions
  • Engineer Archiving/Object storage solutions
  • Engineer Converged/Hyper Converged solution
  • Definition and documentation of best practice process and design
  • Identify requirements and develop/deploy solutions.
  • Take part in RFI and RPF's for vendor selection
  • Perform work within the Agile and Lean frameworks
  • Good understanding of the SCRUM framework and Azure Devops


Requirements:

  • Experience of working for a company supporting a large number of SAN attached servers and/or a large number of TSM/Netbackup/Veeam backups.
  • Clear verbal and written communication to peers and management
  • Willingness to travel between NL and UK and globally as required
  • Strong knowledge of converged and hyper converged infrastructure
  • Strong PowerShell scripting skills
  • Expert Knowledge of VMware virtualisation products
  • Strong knowledge of the vRealize Operations and Automation suite
  • Knowledge of architecting and deployment of SAN Virtualisation technologies
  • Knowledge and understanding of major vendor enterprise and modular storage SAN solutions
  • Tuning and architecting of the SAN enterprise class arrays for specific financial applications
  • Knowledge of IBM tape libraries
  • Some working knowledge backup technologies:
  • NetBackup
  • Veeam backup and recovery
