As a Barclays Community Banker, you’ll be the first point of contact for our customers, providing expert advice on the products and services that are right for them. The Operations team provides specialist support to both customers and colleagues in the management of exceptions to business critical processes to maximise customer satisfaction and experience.  The operation is focused on 8 key services:
Account Opening:  Account Closing:  Account Maintenance and Servicing:  Bereavement and Vulnerability, Account Switching, Customer, Regulatory and Industry Body Data Provision and Customer Data Verification 

What will you be doing?

Work as part of a team conducting development activity and analysis of the Service Provider’s performance.
Support the development of the service management approach for the future to support both the Service Provider and Service Recipient.
Conduct detailed analysis of the service appendices against agreed design principles and changes to service.
Provide detailed analysis, informed problem solving and solution development within complex procurement and/ or service management processes.
Coordinate with senior stakeholders to ensure the accurate tracking, monitoring and timely follow up of the Service Providers performance.
Work alongside senior business stakeholders (Service Owners, Head of Functions, Subject Matter Experts) to assist in the development and delivery of the service management approach between the Service Provider and Service Recipient.
Coordinate the collation of data from stakeholders and manage information input into the programme materials.

What we’re looking for:

Expert ability to perform detailed quantitative analysis, informed problem solving and solution development within the service management domain.

Job Title – Model Risk VP (Retail IVU)
Location – London

Model Risk Management (MRM) is a new function reporting directly to the Group Chief Risk Officer and responsible for the identification, assessment, monitoring and management of model risk within Barclays. IVU is an independent arm of MRM with accountability to senior management and Board of the firm for the review and challenge of all models and assumptions driven non-model methods (NMM) to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance of the model risk measurement and management, in support of Barclays customer and commercial agenda.


Independent Valuation Unit (IVU) is structured in 4 teams (2 US, 2 UK based) covering all models in Barclays. The reporting line for the advertised role is under ‘Retail IVU’. This remit consists of all retail models across Barclays including but not limited to IRB, IFRS9, decision, strategy, pricing and other business models.

What will you be doing?

• Perform technical analysis, benchmarking, build challenger models (if needed) to support the IVU review and challenge process for all new and existing risk models
• Produce high quality IVU reports and presentations for key stakeholders
• Support the line manager in the IVU team in the approval of model
• Manage and coach junior team members. Work collaboratively and share knowledge across the team.
• Project manage model validations, within tight regulatory and internal deadlines
• Engage with model owner and developers to communicate IVU expectations around the quality of model submissions
• Contribute to ensuring that the Retail IVU team provides high quality input and guidance to modellers across the bank to achieve consistency of standards and compliance with internal and external requirements
• Supporting development of model risk appetite, delivering IRB model roll out, assisting internal and external auditor field work

What we’re looking for:

• Highly numerate, as demonstrated by Honours degree, Masters or PhD (or similar) in a numerate subject such as Mathematics, Statistics, Operational Research, Physics or Financial Engineering, or a track record of performance that demonstrates this ability 
• Significant hands-on experience in credit risk model development, model specification, model selection, model testing and/or validation experience
• Excellent knowledge and understanding of a wide variety of model development and validation statistical techniques covering primarily credit risk
• Able to produce high quality written communication including reviews of models, risk policies, and presentations for technical and non-technical audiences

• Able to communicate and influence effectively 
• Highly organised in terms of documentation and follow through
• Ability to work in a high performing team, and the ability to work and liaise with others in a multi-functional team
• Experience in delivering against tight deadline

The CASS Issues Management team is responsible for effective control and management of CASS breaches for all in-scope FCA regulated legal entities.  The team liaise with internal stakeholders (c.80 Operations and Technology teams, Legal, Compliance, Internal Audit), third party service providers and the external CASS auditor.
We work in partnership with teams to ensure processes and controls in place are robust and continually evaluated to reduce the risk of breaches occurring.  Quality and timeliness of breach detection and reporting is critical, as is thorough root cause analysis to drive strategic solutions to further strengthen the CASS operating landscape and create a safe and trusted proposition for our clients. The team play a pivotal role in raising CASS awareness, performing due diligence over breach remediation, sharing emerging themes and trends and communicating MI and matters for escalation in various senior CASS governance forums in addition to the delivery of ad-hoc training.  We also play a critical role in the successful delivery of the annual CASS audit undertaken by the firms external auditor. 

What will you be doing?

Work in partnership with internal stakeholders throughout the lifecycle of breach remediation, from the point of accurately capturing any new CASS issues on the firms central breach register, performing thorough analysis on the issues to ensure root cause is fully understood, to working with teams to ensure key controls are in place to mitigate the CASS risk  
Ensure formal and timely escalation of issues to management whilst maintaining ownership through to a successful conclusion 
Prepare key CASS breach MI reporting, ensuring accurate submissions to various Boards and Governance Committees 
Support delivery of CASS breach themes and trends meetings attended by key senior stakeholders 
Support delivery of ad-hoc CASS training (face to face or webex) 
Act as key point of contact for internal stakeholders throughout the year, and external Audit during audit-year end period
Support delivery of the wider ORC team strategy 

What we’re looking for:

Experience in practcal application of FCA CASS regulation in an Investment Operations environment 
Risk management 
Other relevant Investment Operations experience such as working in a Settlements, Asset Servicing, Reconciliation environment 
Adequate soft skills and be proficient in use of Microsoft Office applications
Good technical knowledge, underpinned by sound problem solving and analytical skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills


Skills that will help you in the role:

Candidate should ideally hold Industry recognised qualifications, within the securities industry
A background in regulatory or financial reporting would be advantageous
Operational experience/knowledge would also be desirable
Desirable if candidate has prior audit, risk, quality assurance or project management experience

The CASS Issues Management team is responsible for effective control and management of CASS breaches for all in-scope FCA regulated legal entities.  The team liaise with internal stakeholders (c.80 Operations and Technology teams, Legal, Compliance, Internal Audit), third party service providers and the external CASS auditor.
We work in partnership with teams to ensure processes and controls in place are robust and continually evaluated to reduce the risk of breaches occurring.  Quality and timeliness of breach detection and reporting is critical, as is thorough root cause analysis to drive strategic solutions to further strengthen the CASS operating landscape and create a safe and trusted proposition for our clients. The team play a pivotal role in raising CASS awareness, performing due diligence over breach remediation, sharing emerging themes and trends and communicating MI and matters for escalation in various senior CASS governance forums in addition to the delivery of ad-hoc training.  We also play a critical role in the successful delivery of the annual CASS audit undertaken by the firms external auditor. 

What will you be doing?

Work in partnership with internal stakeholders throughout the lifecycle of breach remediation, from the point of accurately capturing any new CASS issues on the firms central breach register, performing thorough analysis on the issues to ensure root cause is fully understood, to working with teams to ensure key controls are in place to mitigate the CASS risk  
Ensure formal and timely escalation of issues to management whilst maintaining ownership through to a successful conclusion 
Prepare key CASS breach MI reporting, ensuring accurate submissions to various Boards and Governance Committees 
Support delivery of CASS breach themes and trends meetings attended by key senior stakeholders 
Support delivery of ad-hoc CASS training (face to face or webex) 
Act as key point of contact for internal stakeholders throughout the year, and external Audit during audit-year end period
Support delivery of the wider ORC team strategy 

What we’re looking for:

Experience in practcal application of FCA CASS regulation in an Investment Operations environment 
Risk management 
Other relevant Investment Operations experience such as working in a Settlements, Asset Servicing, Reconciliation environment 
Adequate soft skills and be proficient in use of Microsoft Office applications
Good technical knowledge, underpinned by sound problem solving and analytical skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills


Skills that will help you in the role:

Candidate should ideally hold Industry recognised qualifications, within the securities industry
A background in regulatory or financial reporting would be advantageous
Operational experience/knowledge would also be desirable
Desirable if candidate has prior audit, risk, quality assurance or project management experience
