Description

Senior Engineer - Infrastructure Operations:

  • You will lead on the monitoring and maintenance of the Digital environments across PINS to ensure the environments are operating within acceptable performance metrics.?

  • You will manage and maintain the active directory, including liaising with colleagues to ensure integration with other services to maintain single sign-on.?

  • You will also be responsible for patch management; maintaining patching levels and the security of the estate.?

  • You will coordinate the response to incident reports, ensuring relevant prioritisation and detail to allow effective investigation.? Identifying the correct procedures or channels for resolution and monitor resolution activity and progress updates to customers.?

  • You will take ownership of problems and proactively resolve technical problems; classify and prioritise problems, document their causes and implement remedies.?

  • You will be responsible for the End User Computing ticket queue, providing technical support for IT incidents and problems and working alongside vendors as appropriate to investigate solutions.?

  • You will make sure that the infrastructure is available within service level agreements (SLAs) and operational level agreements (OLAs) and is functioning as designed.?

  • You will carry out activities in incident, problem, change and configuration management and continual service improvement (CSI) processes.?

  • Review and identify areas of improvement in team processes ?

  • You will coach and mentor other team members, including the 3rd-party Service Desk?.

  • Configuring environments for additional services, building and commissioning additional services, maintaining a secure environment and patch management. ?

  • Experience of managing and maintaining a Microsoft 365 environment including, but not limited to, policy management and deployment, security and application deployment?

  • Experience of Active Directory (including Azure Active Directory) and Group Policy administration.?

  • Problem-solving abilities and excellent communication, customer handling and inter-personal skills.?

  • Experience of managing Windows Server 2003 -2012 environments including patching and monitoring.?

  • Knowledge of virtualization technology, in particular VMWare?

  • Experience of configuring and supporting infrastructure equipment such as switches and routers.?

  • Experience of IT service management tools (preferably ServiceNow).?

Desirable criteria:

  • Knowledge of the Government's Digital strategies and codes of practice?

  • Awareness and understanding of industry standard security issues and processes. An understanding of ISO27001 would be an advantage.?
