Our Company

This company is a fully integrated Geoscience company providing leading geological, geophysical and reservoir capabilities to its broad base of customers primarily from the global oil and gas industry.

Job Profile

Reporting to the UK Network Team Leader, the Network Engineer will provide installation, support, ongoing monitoring, maintenance and documentation for high performance data centre networks, firewall & security devices, as well as WAN & Campus networks and contribute to network architecture.

You will help maintain connectivity at all remote sites; deploying and configuring SDWAN and firewall devices, and support high-performance networking within the regional datacentre, in addition to delivering fault isolation and troubleshooting.

The creation and maintenance of detailed network documentation and procedures will therefore be paramount to the role.

The Network Engineer will be expected to participate in the design and implementation of the global network infrastructure and therefore travel will be required both domestically and internationally to provide support and complete installations for your internal client base.

You will proactively develop recommendations concerning equipment life cycle and replacement and assist in developing network hardware and software configuration standards, in adherence with company policies and procedures.

You must also work in collaboration with a multidiscipline team for the completion of cross-functional projects and develop strong global relationships with vendors and their technicians.

Occasional after hours/weekend work will be required and the Network Engineer will participate in an on-call rotation schedule.

Required Education and Experience:

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience supporting a high performance, high availability network architecture, with strong knowledge of key networking protocols used in the design and operation of such networks being essential - including OSPF, BGP and VXLAN, and the use of the CLI to manage devices.

In addition, demonstrable experience supporting firewalls including policy/VPN is required.

Exposure to Linux operating systems and programming languages such as Python, and experience of using network automation platforms is highly desirable.

Exposure to QoS in a WAN environment, knowledge of SD-WAN technologies and experience supporting VoIP and video conferencing on a global network is also desirable.

Ideally you will have acquired experience in supporting multiple vendor hardware from Palo

Alto/Juniper SRX/Cisco ASA platforms, and Arista/Aruba/HP/Cisco. Knowledge of campus

LAN & WiFi networks would also be beneficial.

It is expected that the successful candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills, the ability and desire to learn new things and apply new knowledge to the current environment and a willingness to work both autonomously and using their own initiative.

You must be fluent in English and be fully conversant with technical language relating to network design and hardware, as well as have the ability to convert business requirements into workable solutions.

Fluency in any other language would be highly desirable. You must be available to travel internationally for up to 25% of the role.

Multiple roles with a successful global technology company who are looking to boost their team with C# Developers at all career levels.

You'll be joining this powerhouse organisation at an interesting time; there's a lot of investment going into the technical team and they're hiring for multiple Software Engineers to join them. You'll join a team of circa 20 who work out of their modern offices in Edinburgh's West End (great train/tram/bus links).

In terms of technology, you don't need to be an expert in everything, but you should have experience with some of the following:

*C#, ASP.NET, SQL Server.

*JavaScript/jQuery.

*They're keen to modernise the front end of the product; any Angular/other FE frameworks experience is a bonus.

*Power BI/Reporting tools/SSRS is another bonus.

*Good communication and a team player.

*Agile/Scrum experience.

There's a good deal of flexibility around working times and they are offering competitive salaries (up to circa £55,000 - more if you feel you could suit a Lead Engineer/Team Lead role or progress into a Lead role) and there are good benefits on top; strong pension, annual salary reviews, Life Assurance, Private Healthcare through BUPA, cycle to work, season ticket loan.
