DevOps Engineer

Developers work in multi-discipline product development teams that include software and hardware design and system test engineers. The teams work closely with marketing and sales, turning market and customer requirements into innovative, high quality products.

As part of this growth they have an exciting opportunity for a DevOps Engineer to work on their network emulation products in there Belfast Office. The successful candidate will enjoy working within small teams on the leading edge and be able to innovate and deliver in a fast paced and busy environment.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone with experience in cloud based and virtualized environments to become a key contributor in the evolution of a new virtual product line. Initially, the role will focus on researching, pre-configuring, optimizing and testing the system, working closely with the software engineering team to ensure it is fully functional in all supported environments. There are opportunities to expand this role in a number of directions in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Researching product viability on range of cloud based and virtualized environments.
  • Prototype deployment and configuration in each environment.
  • Optimization and productization in each environment.
  • Product testing in each environment, working with software and test engineers.
  • Opportunities to be involved in
  • Continuous integration system design, implementation and maintenance.
  • Build and deployment tools and processes.
  • Release management.
  • Computer hardware maintenance, support and upgrades.
  • Customer support.
  • Maintenance, support and enhancement of other internal virtualized systems and infrastructure.

Skills

  • Educated to Degree level in Computer Science or an equivalent subject.
  • 3+ years’ experience in a relevant DevOps role.
  • Working knowledge of two or more of the following environments / technologies: AWS, GCS, Azure, Openstack, ESX, KVM, HyperV, Docker, Kubernetes.
  • Working knowledge of one or more orchestration technologies, e.g: Heatmap / Openstack, Kubernetes.
  • Experience configuring and maintaining Linux environments.
  • Strong logical and analytical skills.
  • Ability to innovate and think “outside the box”.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work closely with others in a dynamic, multi-discipline team.
  • Demonstrated ability to respond to tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
