Engineer Support Technician (Bakery & Catering Equipment)

We are looking for candidates seeking an opportunity to become fully skilled Bakery & Catering Engineers. All the candidate needs are a willingness to learn, great communication and team-working skills and a passion for providing excellent customer service.

The company provides a support network of Regional Operations Manager, Senior Engineers and a National Response Centre based in Bury, Manchester to plan and assist in all your daily activities, whilst you progress through a series of unique Company devised training modules.

On Successful completion of each of these training modules you will be rewarded via a Pay Grading System which means you are rewarded as you learn! the current grading system is:

  • Support Technician Grade 1 - £22,500 basic salary
  • Support Technician Grade 2 - £25,000 basic salary
  • Support Technician Grade 3 - £27,000 basic salary

The training modules generally take 12 months on average to complete, training is carried out in the workplace, at our purpose-built Training Centre and with third party approved training providers.

This role is suited to someone who:

  • Has a strong interest in Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering
  • Enjoys a variety of challenging and changing working environments
  • Works well in a fast, high paced, customer focused environment
  • Can work independently and as part of a Regional/National Support team
  • Confident and courteous driving manner 

This role will involve:

  • Based from home attending customer sites within your region.
  • Assisting skilled engineers in carrying out tasks.
  • To carry out repair and maintenance activities within capability range.
  • To communicate on a regular basis with the FM Control Centre providing updates on work tasks.

Working pattern is a standard Monday to Friday operation, with a one in four, working weekend rota.  Our Technicians are paid ‘door to door’.

Although experience working with bakery or catering equipment is an advantage, it is not essential as extensive in-house continuous training is provided.

Your role as 1st Line Technical Support will include:

The successful candidate will have experience of working in some capacity with at least one programming language from VBA, VB.Net or PHP and preferably also exposure of working with other environments such as SQL, HTML, PHP, etc. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows (including networking, Active Directory and the registry), PC maintenance and Microsoft Office packages are desirable, as is the ability to independently problem-solve issues that you encounter. The role is sometimes required to deal with highly sensitive and/or confidential data in the execution of these duties, so being able to approach these with professionalism and maintain absolute confidentiality is key.

Some familiarity with recent Windows Server, MacOS X, Linux, Microsoft Deployment Toolkit, PowerShell and Microsoft SQL Server would be an advantage, as would be previous experience working within another college or similar.
