Athena is J.P. Morgan's cross-market risk management and trading system. It is used in our foreign exchange, fixed income and commodities businesses. Athena includes a globally replicated object-oriented database, a powerful dependency graph and a fully integrated stack across pricing, risk and trading tools. Python is used for flexibility and rapid but controlled releases. Athena is designed to pull developers close to the business to help increase revenues while improving operational processes and controls to reduce costs.The Rates Athena team is extending the firm’s strategic Athena platform for Fixed Income businesses globally - from New York, London and Tokyo to Sydney and Lima - to provide intraday real time risk & position management, transaction management, and back office integration.


The team follows agile practices, adapted to intra-day Continuous Deployment, and supported by regular retrospectives.


Candidate will be expected to understand the Rates Business and work on flagship product Athena and its Ecosystem gaining expertise to various in-house Athena core frameworks. Candidates will have opportunity to contribute across the whole Tech Stack, Front to Back across Regulatory requirements, Global Middle Office requirements, and engineering driven improvements to the Athena Ecosystem for whole spectrum of Rates products.

  • Excellent coding, automated unit testing, refactoring, OO design.
  • Good object oriented design skills
  • Knowledge of Python preferred but not essential (convertors from C++, Java, C# welcome)

This role is solely aimed at the Distributed Compute domain but the successful candidate is expected to build relationships across all domains ensuring that Distributed Compute domain does fit in with their strategies

The team develop, maintain and embed IT architecture strategy and blueprints for all of the Group’s business support services including Risk, Finance, Compliance, HR, Legal, Procurement in support of business and IT strategy and operating models.

 

The Technology Enterprise Architect job holder is responsible for shaping the architecture strategy and roadmap for HSBC Group Functions and working across the functions to embed the technology strategy. This job has two primary areas of responsibility these are, to define, maintain and own the enterprise architecture plan with traceability to HSBC Technology and business strategies and to provide overarching Design Authority support for major change initiatives across the Group.

 
Key duties include:  
 
  • Lead and own the development and implementation of IT architecture strategy, standards and roadmaps across group functions, supporting each function Chief Architect in developing strategies for their functions
  • Engage with senior business and IT stakeholders to ensure that the architecture supports business outcomes and can be easily communicated and understood.   
  • Work with all Group, business, function and regional Enterprise Architects to ensure alignment of programmes with IT Strategy
  • Implement process and consistent models and blueprints to maintain traceability between strategy, programme portfolio, current and target technology landscapes and solution designs
  • Work with architects to ensure the architecture vision, strategy and standards are achievable
  • Work across the Group to define and agree solutions to cross cutting issues
  • Build and maintain target functional and technical landscapes that describes high level architecture across all products/applications
  • Introduce new practices, processes, operating models, techniques, products, services, technologies and standards where needed against identified use cases, via the appropriate governance bodies
  • Stay abreast of technology trends and advise Technology and the business about potential benefits/impacts

 

Qualifications

 

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Experience of working with senior business and IT stakeholders to develop and embed architecture strategies and roadmaps that support business models and outcomes.
  • Ability to support successful execution of architecture through good communication, leadership, influence and collaboration skills 
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills; an ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences including senior executives, business, architecture, programme managers, engineering
  • A track record of making complex design decisions with authority, even in times of ambiguity, balancing advancing strategy, immediate business needs and potential long term risks and implications
  • Experience working in across breadth of architecture covering Business, Application, Data, Technology architecture domains across a complex domain
  • Track record of using strong architecture method and modelling skills covering business capability, application, technology and data models to embed architecture across business and IT
  • Experience of modern architecture applying APIs, micro services, data foundation, advanced analytics and leading Cloud provider PaaS capabilities
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to solve complex problems at scale

We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join our Group Functions Architecture team in the role of Enterprise Architect.

 

The team develop, maintain and embed IT architecture strategy and blueprints for all of the Group’s business support services including Risk, Finance, Compliance, HR, Legal, Procurement in support of business and IT strategy and operating models.

 

The Technology Enterprise Architect job holder is responsible for shaping the architecture strategy and roadmap for HSBC Group Functions and working across the functions to embed the technology strategy. This job has two primary areas of responsibility these are, to define, maintain and own the enterprise architecture plan with traceability to HSBC Technology and business strategies and to provide overarching Design Authority support for major change initiatives across the Group.

 
Key duties include:  
 
  • Lead and own the development and implementation of IT architecture strategy, standards and roadmaps across group functions, supporting each function Chief Architect in developing strategies for their functions
  • Engage with senior business and IT stakeholders to ensure that the architecture supports business outcomes and can be easily communicated and understood.   
  • Work with all Group, business, function and regional Enterprise Architects to ensure alignment of programmes with IT Strategy
  • Implement process and consistent models and blueprints to maintain traceability between strategy, programme portfolio, current and target technology landscapes and solution designs
  • Work with architects to ensure the architecture vision, strategy and standards are achievable
  • Work across the Group to define and agree solutions to cross cutting issues
  • Build and maintain target functional and technical landscapes that describes high level architecture across all products/applications
  • Introduce new practices, processes, operating models, techniques, products, services, technologies and standards where needed against identified use cases, via the appropriate governance bodies
  • Stay abreast of technology trends and advise Technology and the business about potential benefits/impacts

 

Qualifications

 

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Experience of working with senior business and IT stakeholders to develop and embed architecture strategies and roadmaps that support business models and outcomes.
  • Ability to support successful execution of architecture through good communication, leadership, influence and collaboration skills 
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills; an ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences including senior executives, business, architecture, programme managers, engineering
  • A track record of making complex design decisions with authority, even in times of ambiguity, balancing advancing strategy, immediate business needs and potential long term risks and implications
  • Experience working in across breadth of architecture covering Business, Application, Data, Technology architecture domains across a complex domain
  • Track record of using strong architecture method and modelling skills covering business capability, application, technology and data models to embed architecture across business and IT
  • Experience of modern architecture applying APIs, micro services, data foundation, advanced analytics and leading Cloud provider PaaS capabilities
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to solve complex problems at scale
