• You’ll focus on testing the new digital banking app for robustness, using both user interface and backend

What you'll do

As a Quality Assurance Engineer, you’ll be working towards reaching a fully automated test strategy, which will include some manual testing. You’ll be working with a team of developers, in an Agile based delivery model.

You’ll also be:

• Writing auto test JavaScript for the purposes of writing tests and test frameworks
• Working with WebDriver and Appium to deliver quality assurance
• Working with and challenging developers to ensure quality, articulating the important elements to colleagues in a variety of disciplines

The skills you'll need

To succeed in this role, you’ll need experience as an automation quality assurance engineer, SDET or similar quality assurance role, paired with experience of developing test frameworks particularly in JavaScript or Typescript for native apps and backend services.

You’ll need to be well versed in industry best patterns and practices around automated quality assurance testing. On top of this, you’ll need experience with BDD and testing tools such as Cucumber, Appium, WebdriverIO, Mocha, Jest, Chai, Axios, Superset and Cypress UI.

You’ll also demonstrate:

• Experience testing API driven applications and how to validate requests and authentication
• Experience with Agile software engineering practices, particularly Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, and Automated Testing
• Experience working with continuous integration tools, such as Jenkins or Circle CI
• Excellent working knowledge of white box, black box, and integration testing

You’ll also gain a distinguished leadership status in the software engineering community as you lead the wider participation in internal and industry wide events, conferences and other activities.

You’ll also be:

• Designing and developing high performance and high availability applications, using proven frameworks and technologies
• Making sure that the bank’s systems follow excellent architectural and engineering principles, and are fit for purpose
• Monitoring the technical progress against plans while safeguarding functionality, scalability and performance, and providing progress updates to stakeholders
• Designing and developing reusable libraries and APIs for use across the bank
• Writing unit and integration tests within automated test environments to ensure code quality

The skills you'll need

You’ll come with a background in software engineering, software or database design and architecture, as well as significant experience developing software within an SOA or microservices paradigm. 

Along with development experience in one or more programming languages, you’ll bring an excellent understanding of implementing programming best practice, especially around scalability, availability and performance.

You’ll also need:

• Experience of leading software development teams, introducing and executing technical strategies
• Knowledge of using industry recognised frameworks and development tooling
• Experience of test-driven development and using automated test frameworks, mocking and stubbing and unit testing tools
• A background in designing or implementing APIs
• Experience of supporting, modifying and maintaining systems and code developed by teams other than your own
