Job Title – Chip Technology Analyst
Location – Northampton


It's an exciting time at Barclays. We're driving change to be the digital leader in the market whilst keeping out customers at the heart of what we do. As part of this, we’re looking for a Chip Technology Analyst to join our Northampton site. As a Chip Technology Analyst, you will be the Subject Matter Expert in technical chip delivery and management.


What will you be doing?

  • You will be providing technical chip support and direction for Chip issues and incidents
  • You will be monitoring technical performance of BarclayCard’s chipcards in the field
  • You will be defining chip parameters which are suitable for Barclays risk appetite and business requirements, in order to finalise appropriate Chip Personalisation Specifications
  • You will be liasing with external stakeholders/suppliers to build and refine the chip configurations
  • You will be directing and controlling personalisation validation and chip functionality testing
  • You will be managing the chip certification process with the payment schemes to obtain approval and ensure compliance
  • You will be maintaining knowledge of chip specifications including EMV, VIS, VCPS, M/Chip Advance and Contactless to ensure consultancy remains accurate and comprehensive


What we’re looking for:

  • Experience in the card payment industry
  • EMV and VIS knowledge
  • Analytical aptitude with the ability to understand technical reference documents
  • Excellent communication skills


Skills that will help you in the role:

  • Project management experience
  • Understanding of Barclays’ systems and processes
  • Knowledge of chip technology and transaction processing


Where will you be working?

You will be based in our Northampton offices, in the Brackmills industrial estate. Our site is just a stone’s throw away from the town center and is easily accessible by public transport.

This role is key to maintaining and constantly improving the IT infrastructure in support of the development team.
