Being declared winners of the Develop: Star Awards 2019 and considered the Best Studio; big things are on the horizon…we are now looking to help continue their growth from junior to director level hires across the country.

In this case, we are now looking for a Senior Technical Artist to be based in Sheffield.

Within this role you will:

te with the team on technical solutions to deliver the art vision and drive the visual fidelity of the game

  • Build-upon, create and maintain art pipelines, identifying and developing new tools and processes 
  • Help define and meet in-game asset budgets and optimise levels, meshes, materials, lighting, post-processes and vfx.
  • Communicate effectively between art and code, providing guidelines, best practices and documentation for workflows etc.
  • Keep up to date with new technologies and techniques, current game development practices and utilise this effectively in game production

Desirable:

  • Be highly experienced with blueprints and their implementation.
  • High levels of competence with Max, Maya, Zbrush and other modelling and animation packages.

In this case, we are now looking for a Senior Concept Artist to be based in Sheffield.

Within this role you will:

  • This position is purely hands-on creation of concept pieces to drive the direction of a pitch and help communicate the Creative Director’s vision throughout the Concept Team.
  • You will be responsible for creating and iterating on ideas whilst maintaining the vision and feeding into the development of ideas with the wider team. 
  • Maintaining quality and consistency with the other members of the concept team. 
  • Fast concept and iteration of ideas across all aspects of the brief – from the loose working of thumbnails to finished high-spec presentation pieces.

We need you to have:

  • Able to work in multiple artistic styles. 
  • High levels of aesthetic ability, judgement and eye for detail. 
  • Excellent composition, lighting and colour theory skills and appreciation. 
  • Excellent communication skills. 
  • Self-initiating, confident approach to their work, ability to take an idea and develop it further than the brief suggests.
  • Keen understanding of western cultural influences beyond games; movies, books, TV, comics etc.  
  • Ideas generation and iteration.
  • High quality illustrative ability as well as ‘quick and dirty’ productive roughs.
  • An open and receptive response to feedback and working within a small, creative, ideas-driven team.

 We need you to have:

  • Ability to produce excellent high polygon models in both traditional 3D and sculpting packages.
  • Ability to work in a variety of styles.
  • Ability to produce meshes that have a good structure and are suitable for animation.
  • Good understanding of anatomy.
  • Several years of applicable industry experience and at least one shipped title. 
  • Animated feature film character artists experience can be a substitution.
  • Excellent knowledge of at least one major 3D package (Max or Maya preferred). 
  • Excellent knowledge of Photoshop or similar 2D program.
  • Excellent knowledge of Mudbox or ZBrush.
  • Experience with Substance Painter.
  • Experience with shaders. 
  • Strong understanding of game development process.

Desirable:

  • Game engine experience (UE4 preferred)
  • Hard Surface modelling experience
  • Technical art experience
  • Shaders and material creation for engines
  • Scripting
  • High res marketing materials production
  • Concept experience
