HarveyNash have been engaged by a prestigious Technology Solutions Provider to source an experienced Solutions Architect (York office) on a permanent basis. An industry leader in Technology Solutions they service a spectrum of booming industries including: Media, Travel, Telecoms and Transport.

The company are looking to consolidate their customer tech strategy within the Media & Entertainment industry and as a result, looking to bring in a creative and open Solutions Architect. The Solution Architect will have a significant level of responsibility within their area, charged with managing the entire Presale process and working with another non-technical sales associate.

About you

The client are looking for an experienced individual with strong technical and soft skills who is able to influence and take initiative when needed.

The ideal candidate for the position will possess a core drive / passion for delivering quality technology solutions that shape the customer experience. They will have a demonstrable track record in either a Software or Technology sales or consulting role and a holistic understanding of its' inherent intricacies (how to shape client services, metadata, transformation, media pipelines, micro-services and cloud).

Candidates must have experience working as a Solutions Architect in Media / Broadcasting organisations. The ideal candidate will have carried out work in Presales in a previous role and be able to talk about this clearly. A background in DevOps / related software roles or experience with programming languages / coding is desirable.

The candidate:

  • Candidates must have pre-sales experience as this will account for 60% of the role (40% project delivery).
  • Strong communication skills to drive customer meetings (taking responsibility for both remote and face to face presentations)
  • Extensive experience designing, building and supporting commercial and complex enterprise systems with substantial client facing and team management expertise.
  • The right candidate will be of good character (leadership potential) with a strong ability to influence and with exceptional stakeholder management abilities.
  • Can demonstrate experience in producing detailed proposals for large, highly complex and high value bids.

Your main duties:

  • Prototyping potential solutions (Proof-of-concept and MVP implementations)
  • Utilise advanced consultative techniques when proposing solutions to clients
  • Communicating complex and highly technical information / requirements to stakeholders of varying seniority
  • Work with internal teams to ensure the smooth and consistent delivery of market competitive solutions
  • Provide technical sales support where needed
  • Requirements gathering and customer feedback for internal teams

The individual:

Due to the nature of the team and the organisation / industry, the ideal individual would need to be someone of strong character and opinion; able to clearly articulate themselves under pressure / in the face of opposing ideas.

An individual who takes enjoyment from not being micro-managed; is able to take ownership and displays a sense of passion for the quality of their outcomes.

The client is not interested in 'yes' people. The right individual will be a Subject Matter Expert in the required areas (below) and offer clarity in these areas to other members of varying seniority; taking the 'freelance mindset' in to their role.

The role:

Due to the widespread knowledge base of the team, the right individual would have a few different capabilities. They will ideally be a data oriented Solution Architect as around 50% of the day to day activities will be looking after the data side of the business. An individual with a passion for the integration side of the business - someone who is able to speak to the design team about integration / development work. The right individual will also be fully aware of Java script (others considered).

Essential:

  • Strong experience / knowledge of solutions design
  • Ability to think laterally to solve problems and strong analytical experience
  • Experience of Architecture Frameworks (e.g. TOGAF)
  • Design Pattern experience (including Enterprise Design Patterns)
  • Experience with relevant toolsets
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Confidence in developing relationships, networking, negotiating and influencing people from diverse backgrounds, roles and personal drivers
  • Extensive experience around the Software Delivery Lifecycle (specifically analysis, architecture and design)
  • Relay complex technical solutions in to laymen's terms
  • Demonstrable experience working in a multidisciplinary environment and be a good team player
  • Innately thorough with an eye for detail; delivering high quality output to tight deadlines
  • The ability to absorb business and IT knowledge

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect
  • Education to Degree Level
  • Relevant certifications (TOGAF etc)
  • Experience in Power Generation / energy industry
  • Working knowledge of relational databases (Microsoft SQL or Oracle)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft BizTalk
