The team

Independence is led by two partners reporting directly to a member of the UK firm’s Management Board.

The team’s role is to support the partners and staff within PwC through the provision of policy and guidance to the firm in respect of a number of regulatory areas, including Independence, Business Conduct and Ethics. The team also provides certain operational processes in support of those policies and is responsible for monitoring compliance with said policy and procedures.

The Independence Team consists of 3 Director, 16 Senior Managers / Managers and approximately 15 Senior Associates and Associates. The Independence team is responsible for working with the practice to ensure that the firm meets its regulatory responsibilities as required under PwC Global Independence policy and FRC, SEC, the EU regulations and other territories’ rules.

The Independence team devote time to consulting regularly with practice staff to help them understand the complex nature of the independence rules and to give them solutions-focussed guidance to help structure the services the Firm would like to provide to our clients.

Role requirements

As a Manager within the Corporate Independence team, you will be responsible for undertaking the following tasks

  • Providing advice and guidance regarding queries submitted by the practice. This will involve both the initial interpretation of the firm’s independence rules against specific query related facts and the development of initial advice on matters under review, and also the review of junior team member’s advice.

  • Managing and coaching junior team members on various aspects of Independence (e.g. non-audit services, EU and SEC regulations, FRC Ethical Standards, core processes).

  • Exhibiting role model behaviour in addition to helping junior members of the team fulfil their potential by assisting with their soft-skill learning and personal development.

  • Day to day management of core Independence processes which are key to operational activities.

  • Managing own portfolio of consultations and assessments with key stakeholders in the practice to give guidance on Independence considerations.

  • Other ad-hoc projects as the department so determines from time to time, including the provision of general support to other independence activities.

About the GCDO function

Global Chief Data Office is a new global function in PWC recognizing the data driven nature of the organization and enablement of new digital practices. The Data Operations function within the GCDO is responsible for global data governance managing master data and global data services.

About the team (PMDM)

The people MDM (Master Data Management) is a global system of record for all internal People data, the PMDM team are responsible for the management and maintenance of this system. We provide daily support to our Stakeholders (HC Providers and various Consumer applications) by monitoring and reporting on the quality of data in and out of PMDM. The PMDM data is used by global consuming applications across the PWC Network to drive business services.

About the role

Reporting to the PMDM Operations Lead, the role holder will help to identify and improve global processes related to people data across the network. A key role in the PMDM team, the role holder will also help assist with specific projects which form part of the wider GCDO transformation.

The candidate will also support Providers of data (territories) and Consumers (i.e. consuming systems) to ensure that correct processes are being used to improve the PMDM ticket queues. Liaison between territory, on-boarding Consumer Team, PMDM Operations and the technical People MDM teams. Resolve and escalate Provider and Consumer incidents as required.

Responsibilities/Duties

Support Onboarding of Territories, Territory Go-Live and Access Management

  • Work with the Operations and Technical team to assist in writing knowledge base documents

  • Liaison between the PMDM teams to ensure the most efficient processes are being utilised

  • Provide support during Consumer Go-Live in Stabilization Period

  • Monitor PMDM ticketing and execute appropriate action planning

  • Undertake Data Quality monitoring and reporting activities

  • Give access to the providers/consumers to the standard PwC IT ticketing system (ServiceNow) and ensure users are trained on how to use it

  • Operationalize and maintain a Data Steward network, including engagement with the stewards community

  • Resolve and escalate Provider and Consumer incidents as required

  • Manage and publish various documents and communications as they are developed

  • Continually look at ways to improve day to day activities

  • Check for DQ issues such as duplicate records in PMDM, records with incomplete information, or records with errors i.e. records not conforming to the prescribed syntax

  • Experience with data and information architecture dimensional data modelling & schema design in Data Warehouses (preferred), service design, development & implementation for ingestion and consumption

  • Experience in technology platforms such as VSTS, SM9, and Synaptica etc.

  • Experience in data analysis, data modelling, data integration, data profiling, with at least some experience in MDM applications

  • Proven experience in MDM documentation/ operationalizing SLAs/ Incident and Ticketing Management /Operational Reporting/DQ checks in a financial services-led organization

  • Experience of tracking and sharing documentation and communications using Excel sheets

  • Experience in managing and publishing documentation and communication via various channels

The role would involve developing complex data models and subsequent visualisation and reporting dashboards.
