Cyber Security Project Manager
Our Client is based in Whitehaven, West Cumbria and require an experienced project manager to work closely with the ICT Manager to develop a cyber security and resilience project plan, and then, once the plan is approved, to initiate manage the delivery of that project.
The project will deliver prioritised and cost-effective improvements to the cyber security and resilience, in line with the IT strategy, and supporting effective risk management.
The project will cover all aspects of cyber security and resilience, including identifying and protecting critical systems, detecting and responding to, and recovering from, cyber incidents, as well as maintaining adequate security assurance and certifications.
The initial term of the project manager is 12 months, with the initial project plan expected to take 4 weeks to develop, being mainly drawn from existing planning and analysis documents, alongside with stakeholder consultation.
The majority of the work is expected to be on-site in Whitehaven.
The project manager will report to the ICT Manager and be responsible for:
Planning and designing the project in line with existing IT and cyber improvement plans, and their current status and priorities
Defining and supporting a project board, composed of key internal and external stakeholders, that oversees the planning and delivery of the project.
Proactively monitoring its progress and resolving any issues.
Managing the project’s budget, in conjunction with accounting and controls function.
Ensuring the delivery of new and/or enhanced cyber capabilities to an appropriate level of quality, on time and within budget, according to the project plan.
Managing the risks, dependencies and third-party contributions to the project’s successful outcome.
Managing communications with stakeholders.
Essential requirements
Five or more years’ experience in designing and managing cyber security and resilience improvement projects
Hands-on, proactive approach to planning and management
Qualifications in programme and project management (e.g. PRINCE 2, MSP or equivalent)
Qualifications in cyber security and resilience (e.g. CISSP, CISM or equivalent)
Experience in working closely with senior stakeholders to develop and refine plans
Excellent communication skills and a track record of relationship building
Hold or be capable of achieving BPSS security clearance
Desirable requirements
Experience of local government functions and IT systems
Experience with the Microsoft technology stack, including Azure
