Full Stack Software Engineer

Software Engineer or Senior Software Engineer - Edinburgh city centre - SaaS platform company who are developing a product for the medical/healthcare industry.

The team are working with modern tech (Ruby on Rails, JavaScript in an AWS environment). They're a Scrum team who work with TDD/BDD and best development practices (DevOps, Docker, Kubernetes). Joining them you may not have previous experience with Ruby on Rails (Python, PHP, Java etc all fine) but you'll learn quickly with the support of your colleagues.

The company are well-established (they've been going for 10 years) and are growing on the back of some recent contract wins with some really high-profile clients. Their SaaS platform supports research - with tangible benefits to healthcare/medicine and so there's a warm, fuzzy feeling working there because their work really does have a positive impact.

You might not be a RoR expert but they are more than happy to consider experienced Developers who have worked with another back end programming language (PHP, Python, Java, C#).

They pay competitive salaries (up to £55,000 for Senior Engineers) and there are good benefits on top; strong pension, good holiday allowance, private medical. There is also good career development on offer - they promote from within and every team member has regular one-on-ones with Managers and individual training/development programmes.

Your skills and experience:

*Ideally, experience with Ruby (or experience with other programming languages and a willingness to learn!).

*JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3 skills.

*Good Linux skills.

*Database skills; SQL and NoSQL.

*Agile/Scrum experience.

*Source control with Git/SVN.

Bonus skills:

*Azure/AWS skills - experience in SaaS/PaaS (Platform as a Service).

*An interest in Big Data - statistics skills, familiarity with R.

*Experience with RESTful APIs.

*TDD/BDD experience and exposure to DevOps.

If you're interested, please apply and/or get in touch with Rhona Kennedy at Cathcart Associates.

Ruby on Rails, RoR, Python, PHP, JavaScript, SaaS, MySQL, Agile, Scrum, HTML5, CSS3, AWS, Azure, DevOps, UNIX, Linux, SQL, NoSQL, Git, SVN, RESTful APIs, TDD, BDD
