Reporting to the Data Product Manager, you will work closely with all areas of the business to deliver wide-ranging data-driven solutions. Duties will include:

  • You will have responsibility for the analytics infrastructure to ensure smooth running of existing operations, working closely with the database operations team to ensure all services are delivered in line with SLAs. You will draw from a strong technical background to optimise data feeds for growth, applying indexing/partitioning effectively, and continuously optimising processes and dashboards. You will feed data requirements into new projects to enhance their data stores.
  • You will have a strong understanding of data regulations to ensure the delivery of a compliant service.
  • You will build reports to support the delivery of insight back to the internal business.
  • You will support finance with timely reporting, with a particular focus around month end.
  • You will develop processes that are scalable, automating wherever possible, and providing clear and repeatable documentation.

Skills wishlist:

  • We are looking for individuals with a strong technical background within the Microsoft BI stack: demonstrable experience working with SQL, SSRS and Power BI/DAX. Experience building ETL processes using SSIS or other technologies would be advantageous.
  • Somebody who can hit the ground running, drawing from a broad experience in data analysis within a business context.
  • You will ideally have a degree level qualification in Maths/Statistics. Machine learning experience would be an advantage.

Job Title: Data Migration Specialist

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Data Migration workstream on deployment projects reporting into the Project Manager
  • Liaise with other project workstreams, where interdependencies exist, to ensure that decisions taken support the data migration deliverables. Feed any decisions taken within the workstream back into these other groups
  • Provide regular status reports to identified staff to ensure continued tracking of workstream progress
  • Record and track issues relating to the Data Migration workstream and escalate to project staff where appropriate. Provide issue resolution and alternative solution paths
  • Provide/support the client with appropriate documentation/templates e.g. data migration strategy, IFF specifications, data migration scope, workstream plan, data migration mappings, etc.
  • Work with the client to support the identification of issues with the deploying organisation’s data and documenting a plan to resolve them
  • Work with the client to identify data that will not be migrated into the new solution and advise a suitable archiving strategy
  • Load data into the deployed solution using tools built on SQL Server Integration Services
  • Work with the client to analyse the error reports produced as a result of each data load and advise other workstreams of work off activities required to resolve issues
  • Support the client in the creation of their data extracts
  • Where the company are responsible for data extracts, work with the client to map legacy data items to required format and develop the required extracts
  • Support client testing of migrated data across the lifecycle of the deployment
  • Identify, investigate and where appropriate escalate software issues and assist with resolution
  • Work with live customers to investigate and resolve issues. Create / Update relevant documentation

Experience:

  • Previous experience of successful data migration
  • Experience working in or for the NHS
  • Several years’ experience working in or for a hospital information department
  • Working knowledge of the NHS data model and Statutory Reporting in the NHS
  • An in-depth knowledge of hospital PAS and Clinical data
  • Several years recent experience using and developing scripts in Microsoft SQL including exposure to SSIS
  • Understanding of the importance of the data collection and reporting required by central government to record NHS activity
  • Experience developing/designing reports and reporting systems for end users
  • Experience of dealing with end users and technical support teams desirable
