PMO Officer

Job Description

Context:

The Operations Department delivers complex automation projects into dynamic, evolving and challenging airport environments. The Project Management Office (PMO) provides services to the Operations Department team throughout the full project lifecycle; maintaining strong partnership and a high level of customer satisfaction. The PMO officer will support and add value to the PMO through supporting the provision of the PMO services catalogue to the Portfolio Managers, Project Managers and the Project team. The PMO officer will ensure that methods and standards are implemented throughout Airport Projects. Through champion continuous improvement initiatives, the PMO officer will be an integral part of raising the professionalism and the maturity level of the Project function within the organisation.

Accountabilities:

* Establishing and managing reviews at appropriate points during and after projects which will inform their governance by providing evaluations of progress, methodologies and continuing relevance. Gathering independent evidence that the information from projects and the portfolio, is valid and that the projects are likely to achieve their aims.
* Ensure the agreed project management methods, standards and processes are maintained throughout the project lifecycle. Develop, implement and champion appropriate project management procedures, frameworks and methodologies in line with customer's own way of working whilst aligning to existing Vanderlande methodologies. Support the development and maintenance of the quality management processes for all project activities.
* Advise and assist project team members in the application of project tools, procedures, disciplines and reporting standards. Develop training material and provide the training were appropriate. Empower and inspire others to deliver successful projects.
* Support the continuous improvement of the day to day running of projects through the managing, facilitation, capture and processing of lessons identified. Coordinate change initiatives to sustainably embed the learnings and mitigations of lessons. Raise the professional capability and the perceived value of the PMO through supporting the PMO's own continuous improvement and development.
* Maintain a departmental resource allocation overview and feed into the monthly resource management cycle, tracking forward loading, billability and utilisation.
* Support a learning organisation, through developing and maintaining the project library, filing, recording, templates and reporting systems.
* Maintain (and were appropriate set up) the accurate production of all portfolio reports for the recording of project performance and the overall portfolio status, such as risk, cost and adherence to standards - providing the single point of truth for the Operations stakeholders. Monitor the Portfolio risk (threats and opportunities) and issues; propose appropriate responses to manage and mitigate them.

Desired Experience:

* Experience of working within a Project Management Office (PMO) or similar structure
* Ability to analyse and present qualitative information for varying audiences
* Experience in coordinating or managing continuous improvement activities or worked using lean six sigma principles
* Knowledge and experience of a formal project management methodology
* A high degree of computer literacy including advanced knowledge of the MS Office Suite and a willingness and skill to learn new business tools and programs quickly.

Experience of Baggage Handling Systems is not required as training will be provided
