Job Description Summary

As DevOps Support Specialist, you’ll report directly to the Software Engineering Lead, with the aim of building and continually improving the build pipeline for SPW applications, integrating best-in-class SaaS and open source products to enable us to release safely as and when we want.

You’ll be responsible for supporting SPW’s software engineers in understanding and using the pipeline, and will play a part in encouraging ever better practices and ways of working for them.

We believe in an open and collaborative working environment, and we want you to draw upon your experience to establish this culture within engineering, whilst ensuring we don’t skip over our regulatory obligations around process controls.

Job Description

Schroders Personal Wealth combines over 400 years of expertise from two leading British companies – partnering to bring financial planning services to more people in the UK.

Schroders Personal Wealth combines Lloyds Banking Group’s significant customer base, multi-channel distribution and digital capabilities with Schroders’ investment and wealth management expertise and technology capabilities.

Our focus is on the personal relationship we develop with our customers, underpinned by our multi-channel customer reach and our global investment expertise. Our aim is to become a top UK financial planning business within five years.

Would you like to be part of making this possible?

The newly formed SPW Technology & Engineering function is responsible for building the technology platform to support our new venture. We are entirely in the cloud, taking advantage of powerful commoditised offerings where we can, and building bespoke cloud-native solutions when they can differentiate us from our competition.

What we’re looking for

  • You have experience building, running and improving DevOps pipelines that help rather than hinder software engineering teams, moving them beyond ‘just CI’.
  • You have a good understanding of a range of programming and scripting languages and can help teams automate what they do.
  • You understand what “good” looks like, and have previously helped organisations achieve it.
  • You have a history of delivering successful software projects, using a variety of languages.
  • You have worked on public-facing systems, and understand how to engineer security in from the ground up.
  • You understand that successful software delivery doesn’t just end at deployment; you have experience with continually measuring the suitability and value of your products.

Your qualities

  • Humble: you acknowledge your strengths, and also your weaknesses; you work for more than your own personal glory.
  • Curious: you follow the latest technology developments, and explore ways they can be adopted.
  • Creative: you think beyond the obvious.
  • Thorough: you consider the full-picture, and understand that details can matter.
  • Calm: you’re positive under pressure and happy to take the lead in challenging times.
