ANTICIPATED START DATE: May 2020
Description
Agile Charging is the newest spin-out venture from Sustainable Ventures, a builder of sustainability-focused businesses based in Southwark, Central London.
Agile is currently seeking a highly motivated engineer to lead the electrical development of a new electric vehicle charging technology. The role requires a talented electrical engineer, with an interest in and experience of early-stage product development, concept iteration and prototyping.
In addition to the successful delivery of the first commercial prototype, there is potential to support other ventures within the Sustainable Ventures ecosystem and wider portfolio of low carbon technology start-ups.
Requirements
Candidate Profile:
Potential candidates will come from a highly technical background with strong knowledge of electrical product development, but will also be expected to exhibit the following common characteristics:
- A graduate degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Experience of technical development from concept to execution
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain productive relationships within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Enthusiastic approach to problem-solving – someone who enjoys a technical challenge from a blank sheet of paper
- Ability to work independently, taking initiative and ‘ownership’
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Working knowledge of power electronics, storage and systems integration
- Experience of mains AC and low voltage DC systems and circuit design with knowledge of control using IoT and embedded engineering
- Comfortable working as part of a cross-functional team, actively contributing to the venture development cycle
- Driven by the creation and growth of the new venture
- Working knowledge of battery technologies and electric vehicle charging infrastructure would be an advantage
- Experience of low carbon technology development, e-mobility or energy storage is welcome, but not critical
Responsibilities
The fast-paced and evolving nature of early-stage product development means the successful candidate will be a self-starter involved in a range of activities:
- Concept design and iterative development, including mains and/or low voltage DC circuits and electrical/electronic systems
- Specifying, sourcing and costing of components and electrical architecture
- Data analysis to support the development of the technology
- With the team, initial construction of a commercial prototype
- Working with partners/suppliers to prepare for delivery and scale
- System integration, testing and evaluation of electrical sub-systems
- Delivering the electrical/electronic aspects of a multi-disciplinary project within the various constraints of overall timescales, budget and team
- Evaluation of regulatory, safety and health and safety requirements
