A leading Independent IT Infrastructure and Services Consultancy are looking for a Red Hat Consultant to work with a Legal client , 3 month contract based in Manchester, Inside IR35. Assisting with the management of their enterprise datacenter an experienced Linux specialist is required to support the upgrade of key areas of its enterprise Linux estate & asset with the design and delivery of the key upgrade elements for the Linux based solutions.

Experience of Red Hat Linux, experience of other Unix versions is ideal. A knowledge of OpenShift or any other RHEL technology stack is highly desirable. A knowledge of automation using shell scripting, Bash, ansible or puppet is required

The Ideal Candidate
Certified in RedHat Linux to at least Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) level
A detailed knowledge of the RHEL operating system and key components such as SELinux.
Good knowledge and hands-on experience in common programming languages (e.g. Python, Java, PHP, JavaScript, C)
Demonstrate experience of automation for infrastructure using ansible, puppet or similar
A good knowledge of the Red Hat Opensource technology stack, ideally with exposure to OpenShift, Openstack, ansible tower or RHV
Understanding of container runtime, orchestrator, networking and storage concepts.
Experience of source code control systems – ideally Git.
Working knowledge of application security best practices, and methods required to secure RHEL systems automated pipelines and operations.
An enthusiastic approach and deep interest in Opensource technologies

Responsibilities
Responsible for engaging with solution and application stakeholders, to consult and help achieve the rollout and upgrade to TLS1.2, upgrading from TLS1.1. The role requires an individual who can plan the rollout, work in test cycles to prove the process and then take this into production. The individual will need to work well within consulting teams and has a proven track record in delivering and upgrading Linux solutions.
Solution Design
Design the upgrade and rollout to high availability solutions
Designing robust implementation and migration plans;
RHEL and Unix Server solution testing
Proven troubleshooting skills
Scalability planning
RHEL and Unix Server maintenance and operations
experience in conducting technical performance and testing reviews,
Consult and advise on the TLS upgrade of enterprise RHEL and Unix solutions, across multiple datacentre locations in both a physical and virtualised model.
Work with consulting peers to understand current project strategies
Work with Solutions Architects and Infrastructure engineers to deliver required upgrade plan
Prepare, attend and present at customer workshops and meetings
