The Role: Automation Test Engineer
Location: Milton Keynes
Salary: £50,000 DOE
Important: You do have to go through security clearance.
Automation Test Engineer needed for a market leader that provides specialist solutions around the governance, audit, asset tracking and competence of specialist police training and operations. They support 43 home office police forces and 3 national law enforcement agencies and provides learning management, asset management and reporting capabilities for the police forces.
What you will be doing:
As part of the role you will develop and maintain the automated test framework of my client’s RESTful platform and associated web interfaces and systems. You will apply, design and develop automated testing strategies as well as analyze and verify the best automated and manual test approaches. You will also execute acceptance, integration, installation and system testing and be involved in product design to guarantee adherence of test coverage for meeting end user requirements.
Ideally, your skills will include:
- Excellent knowledge and experience in testing Java based applications and web services
- Excellence in the construction and maintenance of automated test frameworks
- Good understanding of automated UI testing tools and techniques e.g. Selenium
- Practical knowledge of TDD & BDD techniques
- Experience in CI/CD pipelines (construction and maintenance) with Jenkins and Git
- Good understanding of black and while box testing
- Good understanding of SQL and relational databases (Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL, postgreSQL)
It would be great if you also had:
- Experience in testing RESTful API’s for consumption by web/desktop applications
- Experience in performance testing approaches e.g. JMeter
- Experience in security and penetration testing
- Experience in UI testing with Selenium
- Experience in BDD test automation using Gherkin & Cucumber
- Experience in testing service based, event driven and event sourced architectures
